It’s been just over 6 weeks since the 8 of us embarked on own first fundraising event for our charity of the year, Swindon’s Prospect Hospice. To sum it up in one word? MUDDY!
I, along with two others, embarked on the 10K challenge meaning two laps round the course and much to my upset, this meant two times through Coate Water’s Remembrance Wood (one of the muddy places!). We started first, with the 5K runners following shortly after and they were also there at the end to cheer us 10K runners on, which after an hour of running I for one needed that final boost!
The competition between us all was prevalent on the day, with some informal beer buying bets being agreed amongst the 5K runners. Whether this had any impact on Sam being the event’s first place runner (with a time of 27:50), I surely could not comment!
Personally, I was very happy to have run the furthest I have ever ran before and with a time of 1 hour 7 minutes. It was great to get out and do something altogether for a good cause, and it was lovely our other non-running colleagues came out to support us on that sunny Sunday.
So, it brings me to think we need to get another one in the diary, but the question is, what shall we do? We have some keen cyclists in the office too, so maybe we could team up and complete a duathlon?!
Our fundraising total is currently up to £1,399 (including cash donations) which is incredible and we are so grateful for everyone who has donated. Not had time to donate yet and want to spur us on to do the next challenge? There is still time and link can be found here.
